The Grupo de Arte de Vanguardia de Rosario—created by a fusion of three workshops, with artists from different artistic organizations (alumni from Juan Grela, the Grupo Taller, and recent graduates of the Escuela de Bellas Artes de la Universidad)—initiates its public collective actions and position statements at the end of 1965.
When a local television station (Canal 3) circulated an invitation to participate in a Salón for young artists, the group took issue with the conditions therein and reacted by producing a flier in which they reaffirmed their critical stance. This position had actually already become evident in their first manifesto (“A propósito de la cultura mermelada” [Concerning the Marmalade Culture]), which was an open rejection of sanctioned art circuits, their power in a nuclei structure, as well as their élite followers in the city.
The following is a list of all who signed the manifesto: Osvaldo Boglione, Aldo Bortolotti, Fernández Bonina, Graciela Carnevale, Noemí Escandell, Rodolfo Elizalde, Mario Alberto Escriña, Eduardo Favario, Ana María Giménez, Emilio Ghilioni, Carlos Gatti, Marta Greiner, Edmundo Giura, Lía Maisonnave, Coti Miranda Pacheco, Estela Molinaro, Norberto Puzzolo, Roberto Ortiz, Juan Pablo Renzi, Rafael Sendra, and Guillermo Tottis.
