This article discusses the show Construção Selvagem held in Belo Horizonte, state of Minas Gerais, and at the Centro Cultural São Paulo. The following artists were selected to participate in the exhibition: Marconi Drummond, Ricardo Homen, Solange Pessoa, Cristiano Rennó, Roberto Bethônico, Claudia Renault, and Mabe Bethônico. The following artists were connected to the group studio in the capital of Minas Gerais: Marconi Drummond, Roberto Bethônico, Junia Pena, Fabiola Moulin, Ricardo Homen, Solange Pessoa, Nydia Negromonte, and Mabe Bethônico. Formed in 1989 and active until 1991, the group, which renewed the Belo Horizonte contemporary art scene, held the following exhibitions: Primeira Mostra do Desenho Simulado, Poética do Acaso, and Construção Selvagem. The most outstanding member of the group was indisputably Mabe Bethônico, an artist who would go on to participate in the XXVII and XVIII São Paulo Biennials.
Along with Hudinilson Jr. and Rafael França, artist Mario Ramiro was a member of the 3Nós3 [ThreeWeThree] group. Formed in 1979 and active in São Paulo until 1982, the group was geared to collective action in the urban space. Later, Mario Ramiro’s work would focus on technology and experiences informed by science. He is currently a professor at the Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo (ECA-USP).
