The exhibition Art from Brazil in New York, organized by the United States branch of Galerie Lelong, addressed how Brazilian art had been received abroad starting in the nineties. The exhibition, which encompassed a number of different venues, featured works by Hélio Oiticica, Waltércio Caldas, Cildo Meireles, Tunga, José Resende, Regina Silveira, Nuno Ramos, Leonilson, Ernesto Neto, Sandra Tucci, Adriana Varejão, Ester Grinspum, Fernanda Gomes, and many others.

Argentinean poet Carlos Basualdo (b. 1964) is now a freelance curator and art critic. He is an occasional contributor to art magazines from La maga (based in Buenos Aires) to Artforum (based in New York). As a curator, he has worked on major international events such as documenta in Kassel (Germany), the Venice Biennale (Italy), and the São Paulo Biennial (Brazil). He is currently the curator of contemporary art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and also serves as an adjunct professor at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia.
