Synopsis

American photographer Jack Delano (Kiev, Ukraine, 1914-San Juan, 1997) remembers his early involvement in community action programs in Puerto Rico first as a photographer for the Farm Security Administration (1941), later as a member of the Cinema and Graphics Section of the Commission of Parts and Public Recreation (1946), and ultimately at the Division of Community Education (from its establishment in 1949 until 1952).  While the focus is on films produced by the latter two initiatives, Delano's first hand account also provides valuable information on the artists that were associated with the graphics sections during the early years.
