The editorial categories are research topics that have guided researchers during the recovery phase and continue to be the impetus behind the Documents Project’s digital archive and the Critical Documents book series. Developed by the project’s Editorial Board, each of the teams analyzed this framework and adapted it to their local contexts in developing their research objectives and work plans during the Recovery Phase. From Córdoba, Argentina, the Frente [Front] editorial committee sets forth the need for a culture magazine which is dedicated to critical debate on both scientific and artistic ideas. With regard to a display of the changes at work in the world at that time, the publication makes its statement in a doctrinaire manner.
This document demonstrates the national reach of the artistic and political debates surrounding David Alfaro Siqueiros’s visit to Argentina; the magazine Frente, managed by Santiago Monserrat and published in Córdoba, produced only three issues as the official organ of this cultural group.
This document allows us to place Siqueiros’s arrival within a context receptive to his ideas as this was clearly indicated in the magazine’s mission statement. Frente also published Siqueiros’s thoughts on the dialectics of the arts in its second issue (see document 733913).
