The art critic Roberto Guevara wrote a text with the title “Salir fuera,” which introduced the exhibition brochure for Pasta dominical by Clemencia Labin at the Galería Sala Alternativa (Caracas, 1997). The writer begins with a description of the internal world of the Venezuelan visual artist because he finds the main characteristics of her work to be the elements that are most introjected. Discussing the development of the work, the writer contextualizes it in the place where it is shown, speaking of the spontaneous technique and the formal art language that are combined in Labin’s paintings.
The Venezuelan art critic Roberto Guevara (1932–1998) focused on the work of Clemencia Labin (b. 1946) in order to comment on the series that lent its name to the exhibition, Pasta dominical (Galería Sala Alternativa, Caracas, 1997). The writer emphasizes the impact of the creative process that begins within the artist and is then represented in her aesthetic ideas, rich with symbols. Writing in the distinctive style he uses when writing criticism, Guevara proposes a new way of seeing Labin’s work by delving into the visual content of her design and her artistic intentions.
By reading this brief (yet concise) text, the viewer can appreciate the most outstanding and internalized features of all the artwork created by Clemencia Labin.
